A recent study using data from Realtor.com estimated how much of a house $200,000 would buy across every state in the nation. Where do you guess Delaware landed?
On the headline $200,000 measure, we ended up at in 30th place. In other words, $200,000 buys a larger house in 29 other states, so we’re not far from the middle.
Other relevant information was that we were the 16th most expensive when measured by the median list price of a home for sale in April 2024 at just under $500,000. That high figure, however, is impacted by the fact that the median size of a house listed for sale in Delaware is currently the 3rd largest in the nation!
